Many of our daily routines can be cut into either Principles or Decisions.

Like, today a Principle you followed is: “I don’t go outside without clothes on.” You didn’t have to ask yourself, “Should I wear clothes today?” In fact, you wouldn’t be caught dead outside without anything on! Being clothed is a Principle, not a Decision. You get to decide what clothes to wear, but not IF you will wear clothes.

It’s important for us to know the difference between a Principle and a Decision.

A Principle is defined as “a personal or specific basis of conduct or management”. It’s what you believe in and live by.

A Decision is defined as “the act of or need for making up one’s mind”. It’s something you “do or not do“.

Now consider these issues:

* I read my Bible every day.

* I pray for others every day.

* I go to Church or Bible Study weekly.

* I share the love of Jesus to others who need Him.

Are they Principles or Decisions?

If you make them to be Decisions, then you will have a choice to “do or not do”. If something comes up and interrupts your schedule, you may decide not to do them.

If you make them to be your Principles , then God’s Word, Prayer, Worship, and Witness  become issues “you live by”. They dictate your life, conduct, priorities and schedules.

Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain. – 1 Corinthians 15:58.

May we be known as Men and Women of Principle!
